“A composite veneer is a layer that we bond to your natural tooth structure. The advantage of this procedure is that it can be fabricated in the office while you wait. It can make a stained or discolor tooth look naturally white. It is also a much less expensive alternative to porcelain veneers. However its greatest limitation is the fact that the material itself is weak when compared to ceramic in the long term and as years pass the weakest areas start to show.  With composite resins we may see the edges lift and color changing as food stains penetrate the microscopic imperfections, because these imperfections are a function of the solubility of the material in the mouth and that takes time its “realistic” look ages. While it looks and feels natural, it is not as strong or durable as a porcelain veneer. However for those who wish to give their smile a quick and fairly inexpensive makeover, composite veneers are a great alternative.”
